Explore some of the history and heritage of Wales from a completely unique angle. Visit a location of the National Park seen by few. Experience the environment of the Victorian miners and learn about the methods and techniques used to extract the slate that roofed the Victorian world.
The day involves walking and some scrambling around an old slate mine, the day is relatively strenuous involving a fair bit of walking uphill, but does not involve small tight spaces. There is the option if people are interested to include some climbing type activity in the mine.
Kit List:
Come prepared for a full day out.
- Wellies, or sturdy footwear (anything other than wellies and you will get wet feet)
- Warm clothing (it’s about 10˚C underground)
- Waterproof top and trousers (it can be quite a long walk in the rain to and from the mine)
- Lunch and drink
- All technical kit such as helmets, lamps, any climbing kit required will be provided by Tŷ'n Dŵr Outdoor Centre.
